Recycle Bin holds the deleted data temporarily. This folder is allocated for each drive on PC. Deleted file is stored in a special hidden directory that is located in the root directory. Recycle Bin folder is maintained separately for each user on Windows system. The drive using NTFS partition creates a Recycle Bin in Recycler folder for each user who logs on to the PC. This RECYCLER directory maintains sub directories under it. Each subdirectory is named after SID (Security Identifier). This SID is unique number that can identify user. This marks the files that are deleted by individual users in directories. SID can also be used to identify whether system user has successfully logged on to a domain or not. When login is successful, domain SID is stored in the Registry of the client system. In previous versions of Windows prior to vista, SID folder was not created for a user until they access Recycle Bin.
When photos, program files, compressed files, folders etc that are stored on your hard disk are deleted these are stored in Recycle Bin unless you permanently delete them. Your favorite family photos, recent birthday photos are deleted permanently when you accidentally press Shift + Del keys using Windows system. When a file is deleted from Windows system, the entry in the file allocation table is deleted. The deleted file is not permanently deleted from hard disk. This file is indicated as located in the Recycle Bin directory in the root drive of the partition.

On NTFS partition this file is named as INFO2. Every file moved to the Recycle Bin maintains INFO file with 800 bytes in length.
